ALTAR SOCIETY
Dear Fellow Parishioners,
Our parish at one time had a very vibrant Altar Society made up of devoted ladies from the parish. As the years passed, most of the helpers have moved away or have left the ministry to serve our precious Lord in heaven. I am the sole remaining member of this group and am in need of assistance. Because of our diminished numbers over the years, the duties have also been reduced and some of our chores are now taken care of by a paid maintenance crew.
I would like to revive this ministry and hope that you might consider giving of your time to participate in this very important service.
The most important weekly chores are the following:
·Changing the altar candles,
·Replenishing the hosts in the sacristy,
·Changing and cleaning the holy water vessels at the rear and front of the church,
·Cleaning the thurible,
·Cleaning and changing the wick in the candle snuffer.
Though there are other tasks, some of them are not performed weekly. The above tasks are usually done on Saturday mornings so that all is fresh for the weekend Masses, but some can be done on Fridays. Families are welcome to help. It is rewarding knowing that one is taking care of our most sacred worship space.
Thank you and God bless!
