Holy Redeemer collects nonperishable food to supplement the local food pantries of St. Joseph's in Beltsville, Maryland and St. Mark's in Hyattsville, Maryland as an ongoing effort to help feed the hungry.
Suggested items are pasta, spaghetti sauce, canned fruit, beans, cereal, vegetables, meats, white rice, dried black beans, macaroni and cheese, pancake mix, syrup, peanut butter, jelly, cooking oil, and dried milk.
Parishioners are asked to please bring non-perishable, unopened food items to Holy Redeemer before the weekend Masses and leave them at the front entrance of the church or on the Mezzanine. We will deliver them to the local food pantries.
While we collect food throughout the year, we particularly focus on the time around Thanksgiving and Easter. In particular, Holy Redeemer holds focused Food Drives throughout November for Thanksgiving and during the weeks of Lent for Easter.
A generous person will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.
