Sunday School of Religion
Complete the online School of Religion Registration found on our parish website or pick up a paper registration form from the front entrance of the church or on the Mezzanine. A new form is required to be completed every year, even if your family was enrolled last year.
Please submit a copy of his/her Baptismal Certificate with your completed registration form. You will not be able to register without a Baptismal Certificate. (If you are unable to readily locate your child's Baptism Certificate, contact the parish office of the church where your child was Baptized to request a new copy.)
Registration forms & fees are due by Friday, August 25, 2023. This will help us to adequately prepare for the upcoming year and allow for the first day of classes to run smoothly. If you turn in your registration form after August 25, 2023, your child's book will arrive late. However, we will continue to accept registrations after the aforementioned date.
Return the completed registration form (if not submitted online) and copies of the Baptismal Certificate(s), through any of the following ways:
- Mail to: Holy Redeemer Parish (Attn: SCHOOL OF RELIGION) 4902 Berwyn Rd. College Park, MD 20740
- Place envelope in the collection basket at Sunday Mass. (Write on envelope: “Attn: SCHOOL OF RELIGION”.)
- Place envelope in Parish Office door mail slot. (Write on envelope: “Attn: SCHOOL OF RELIGION".)
- Drop your envelope off at the Parish Office anytime Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

REGISTER ON-LINE IN THE COLUMN ON THE LEFT.The Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist are administered to children who are in 2nd grade. However, children who intend to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist must have been enrolled in SOR or another formal Catholic religious education program the prior year. If your child is entering 2nd grade but has not received any formal religious education and/or has not received the Sacrament of Baptism, they will be placed in 1st grade or will be required to enroll in our Rite of Christian Initiation for Children program. Please contact Fr. Andrew for more information.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is administered to children who are in 8th grade. However, children must have been enrolled in SOR or another formal Catholic religious education program the year before. If your child is entering 8th grade but has not received any formal religious education or the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, and/or Eucharist, they will be placed in 7th grade SOR and will be required to enroll in our Rite of Christian Initiation for Children program. Please contact Fr. Andrews for more information.
Weekly attendance at Mass, is strongly encouraged of all children (particularly for children in 1st grade and higher). Also, If your child is receiving a Sacrament this year, attendance at School of Religion is extremely important for their sacramental preparation. If a child is not in attendance for the majority of classes, they may not be able to receive these Sacraments.
All announcements concerning the dates and times of classes for School of Religion will appear in the Sunday Parish Bulletin and will be e-mailed out to families who have enrolled.
E-mails will regularly be sent to School of Religion families regarding important dates and information. Parents are strongly encouraged to read these e-mails as they contain important announcements such as possible cancellations or other reminders. -
