Sacred music at Holy Redeemer is an integral part of the liturgy. The Church possesses a rich history of sacred music, and Holy Redeemer strives to add depth and beauty to the liturgy through its music. Through the use of Gregorian chant, polyphony, hymns, and descants, along with the newly renovated Moller pipe organ, the church is always filled with rich music!
Our choirs and musicians also give two extra-liturgical concerts, one at Christmas and one in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Our most recent Christmas concert is linked below:
"The musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art. The main reason for this pre-eminence is that, as sacred song united to the words, it forms a necessary or integral part of the solemn Liturgy.… Sacred music is to be considered the more holy in proportion as it is more closely connected with the liturgical action, whether it adds delight to prayer, fosters unity of minds, or confers greater solemnity upon the sacred rites."
-Sacrosanctum Concilium 112 (1963)
