Do you enjoy reading the bible? Would you like to help others hear clearly the Word of God at Mass?
Being a Lector is a great way to deepen your appreciation of Sacred Scripture, and assist your fellow parishioners at Mass to clearly and prayerfully hear the Word of God.
Lectors joyfully proclaim God's Word to the congregation, reading from the Old Testament, the Responsorial Psalm (if there is no Cantor) and the New Testament. At home, Lectors pre-read the chosen Readings for Sunday in their Workbook for Proclaimers of the Word. This Workbook contains pronunciation guides and background information on the readings for Mass.
A Lector must:
Be at least 18 years of age.
Faithfully participate at Mass and receive the Sacraments regularly.
Be willing to complete an initial training session.
Be invited at the discretion and with the approval of the pastor.
Come join us and let us help you discern if this is a ministry to which you are called.
Our Lector Information Night will be held on Monday, February 4th at 7:00 p.m. in the church. It will be led by Fr. Mark and our Lector trainer, Micki Freeny.
