Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is open to all who are in 8th grade or above. Those who are to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation will need to have already received the Sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist. For adults interested in receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation, please refer to our Becoming Catholic page.
Confirmation Preparation for young adults who are in 8th grade or above begins every September and runs until late April or early May when the candidates receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation includes Sunday Mass participation, monthly Confirmation gatherings on Sunday evenings, a weekend retreat in March, selection of a Sponsor, and other small assignments. In addition, Confirmation candidates are required to be enrolled in School of Religion (SOR) or Holy Redeemer School, and at least one year of prior religious education is expected.
“By the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.”
