In accordance with the Archdiocese of Washington, ALL Adults 18+ who would like to work or volunteer in our school or with parish events involving youth are required to be in compliance with the Archdiocese of Washington Child Protection Policy (2019). More information can be found HERE.
THE STEPS:
Please contact me if you are unsure of your Archdiocese of Washington Child Protection status. I am happy to look up your information to let you know where you stand. Please know that the teachers and faculty are not permitted to allow adults 18+ to volunteer, attend class parties, chaperone field trips, etc. until they have checked with me to make sure that all Archdiocese of Washington Child Protection requirements have been completed. The earlier in the year, the better to get a handle on this so that you don't miss out on fun and exciting school events!
Please note that all volunteers must have completed the online Code of Conduct and Contact with Minors forms. This is a new requirement from a few years ago. If you had completed your requirements previous to the implementation of these two online forms and never filled them out, you are now out of compliance and may not volunteer.
Several volunteers who were previously in compliance, are no longer and have had their accounts inactivated by the Archdiocese because of this! This take less than 10 minutes to complete. Let me know, and I'll help you through it so that you can volunteer again.
If you have completed your Archdiocese of Washington Child Protection requirements at another location, please be sure to contact me to let me know. I can adjust your Virtus account to reflect this. You will only need to fill out a new Volunteer Application and a new Appendix E Form so we can build a file for you here at Holy Redeemer.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Thanks!
In Christ,
Mrs. Marie Winterson, OCDS
Holy Redeemer Parish Secretary
& Child Protection Coordinator
