Rebuilding Our Altar Server Ministry
Beginning this fall of 2022, Holy Redeemer Church will offer again the opportunity to serve at the Table of the Lord to responsible children, youth, and young adults who are interested in ministering to our parish as Altar Servers at our Masses.
This summer, we would like to begin collecting names and contact information so that we can begin training in the fall for children who have been baptized, received First Eucharist, and regularly attends Sunday Mass.
Are you a high school or college student or young adult with previous experience as an altar server who would like to assist Fr. Golas, Fr. Andrews, and Mr. Limarzi in training our new servers? Please volunteer to help. We are essentially starting from scratch after a more than two year pandemic hiatus and your experience & perspective will be a huge help!
What does it mean to be a Holy Redeemer Altar Server?
Altar Servers are needed to serve the 5:00 p.m. Vigil Mass and the 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 12:00 noon Sunday Masses every week.
In addition, Altar Servers are needed for special Holy Day & Holiday Masses, funeral Masses, and wedding Masses.
"The altar server occupies a privileged place in the liturgical celebration. The altar server presents himself or herself to a community and experiences firsthand that Jesus Christ is present and active in every liturgical act.”
“In liturgy, the altar server is much more than a “simple helper of the parish priest”. Above all, you are servers of Jesus Christ, the eternal high priest.”
“Your commitment to the altar is not only a duty, but a great honor, a genuine holy service.”
Pope John Paul II, August 12, 2001
